Linda Saverine Santarella (i) Capital Projects I am enthusiastic about are: -Continue to support the outstanding work of the Darien High School Building Committee to help insure that the new Darien High School open on time in September 2005, and within the set budget. -Future land acquisition: Pursue future land for open space and parkland. -The future of Darien's downtown development is crucial. I served on the previous downtown task force for eight years. We were responsible for the improvement from Post Corner to West Ave, Darien Sport Shop to the movie theater. The Glassmeyer Project is an incentive for other property owners to participate in revitalization. Future blocks will be challenging and take time, therefore a new Task Force needs to be created. -The Board of Selectmen will assist the Board of Education in their efforts to determine what the best solution is for the Tokeneke community. All Capital Projects will require funding. The Board of Selectmen should try to find creative solutions for future projects. We must be fiscally responsible and realize that it will be difficult to keep a balance with what we must provide, what we would like to do, and what we would like to have.
